In this guide
A temporary Canadian SIM should cover your whole stay without leaving you with a service you no longer need. Compare the package’s full cost, validity, total data, and calling features. CanadianSIM currently offers prepaid eSIM packages lasting 30 or 90 days, both with a Canadian number.
30 days or 90 days: compare the whole package
| Feature | 30-day prepaid | 90-day prepaid |
|---|---|---|
| Current package price | CA$40 | CA$75 |
| Validity | 30 days | 90 days |
| Total included data | 95 GB | 75 GB for all 90 days |
| Canadian phone number | Included | Included |
| Calls within Canada | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Calls to the USA from Canada | Included | Not included in the listed allowance |
| Local and international texts | Included | Included |
| Hotspot / tethering | Not supported | Not supported |
| US or international roaming | Not included | Not included |

The longer package does not have the larger data allowance. The 90-day option is useful when you need more time, but its 75 GB is shared across the entire service period. Check your likely use and confirm the checkout total, including any applicable tax.
Match the validity to your actual dates
For a holiday of up to two weeks, the 30-day package can cover the visit without requiring a plan named for the exact trip length. See the two-week eSIM guide if that is your situation.
For a visit longer than 30 days, compare a package that covers the whole stay with the cost and process of continuing a shorter one. Do not assume that another month will be added automatically or at the same promotional price. Confirm the available continuation process before relying on it.
For a 60-day family visit, for example, the 90-day package covers more days than you need. That is not necessarily a problem: compare its full CA$75 price and 75 GB allowance with the verified alternatives for all 60 days.
If you are moving for 90 days or more and expect ongoing service, also compare CanadianSIM’s monthly newcomer plans. Those have different billing, data, and feature terms. The plan that fits a holiday may not be the one you want for a year.
Do you need a temporary Canadian number?
Both current CanadianSIM prepaid packages include one. It can be useful for local calls, deliveries, accommodation contacts, and other ordinary communications during the visit.
That number belongs to an active mobile subscription; it is not a permanent account identifier that you can assume will remain available forever. If important services depend on it, plan how you will continue or transfer service before the package becomes inactive.
For a short trip, keep access to the number and recovery methods you already use for important accounts. Do not change every account to a temporary number without considering what happens when the trip ends.
eSIM or a physical SIM?
These prepaid offers are eSIM packages, delivered digitally. Check that your phone is unlocked and that the exact model supports eSIM and the intended network. The plan page has compatibility guidance; use the phone manufacturer’s documentation if anything is unclear.
If you need a physical SIM, compare available physical-card options separately before ordering. An eSIM purchase does not automatically become a posted card, and a phone without eSIM support cannot install a digital profile just because it is unlocked.
Check the two common deal-breakers
Laptop use: the current prepaid plans do not support hotspot. If you need to tether, arrange another connection or choose a plan that explicitly includes it. Buying more phone data does not change that restriction.
Cross-border travel: the packages are for use in Canada. The 30-day plan’s US calling inclusion means calls from Canada to US numbers, not service while physically in the United States. Arrange connectivity for any US portion separately.
For a drive through several regions, check the route’s coverage before paying. Our road-trip guide shows how to plan for coverage changes and offline maps.
Temporary SIM questions
Can I buy a 90-day package for a shorter stay?
Yes, if it suits your needs and the active dates cover the trip. Compare the total price and data rather than assuming the longest period is best.
Is 75 GB available each month on the 90-day plan?
No. The current package lists 75 GB total for the full 90 days.
Will the same number still be available on my next trip?
Do not assume so. Ask about continued service, expiry, and number retention before the current package ends.
Does deleting the eSIM extend or pause the plan?
Do not treat deletion as a pause. Follow the plan’s validity rules and contact support before removing a profile you may still need.
